Cookie policy
Last updated 2 October 2026.
The short version
Nothing is stored on your device until you agree to it, apart from your answer itself. The first time you visit, a notice at the bottom of the screen asks whether we may use Google Analytics, Google Ads and the Meta pixel. Say no and none of them stores anything, and every page works exactly the same.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser so it can recognise the same browser later. Local storage does the same job in a different place. The law treats the two alike, and so does this page, so both are listed below.
What we store, and why
Needed for the site to work
Stored once you answer the question, whichever way you answer. It holds your answer and nothing else.
- agc-consent-v2
- Remembers your answer to the cookie question, yes or no, so you are not asked on every page.
- Local storage, lasts until you clear your browsing data
Google Analytics
Only if you say yes.
- _ga
- Tells one visit from another, so we can count visitors without knowing who they are.
- Cookie, lasts up to 13 months
- _ga_SEH1RHLHKX
- Keeps track of your current visit, such as which pages it has included so far.
- Cookie, lasts up to 13 months
Google Ads
Only if you say yes.
- _gcl_au
- Lets Google Ads tell whether a visit led to an enquiry.
- Cookie, lasts 90 days
- _gcl_aw
- Set only when you arrive by clicking one of our Google adverts, so an enquiry can be credited to that advert.
- Cookie, lasts 90 days
- GCL_AW_P
- The same job as _gcl_aw, set by Google on its own domains (google.com, googleadservices.com and doubleclick.net) rather than on ours.
- Cookie, lasts 90 days
- _gcl_ls
- Google's copy of the advert click details, kept in case a cookie is lost.
- Local storage, lasts until you clear your browsing data
Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram)
Only if you say yes.
- _fbp
- Tells one browser from another, so Meta can measure our Facebook and Instagram adverts and show them again to people who have visited.
- Cookie, lasts 90 days
- _fbc
- Set only when you arrive by clicking one of our adverts on Facebook or Instagram, so an enquiry can be credited to that advert.
- Cookie, lasts 90 days
- lastExternalReferrer
- Meta's record of the website you came from, used for the same measurement.
- Local storage, lasts until you clear your browsing data
- lastExternalReferrerTime
- When you arrived from that website.
- Local storage, lasts until you clear your browsing data
- multiFbc
- Meta's copy of any advert clicks, kept in case a cookie is lost.
- Local storage, lasts until you clear your browsing data
Google and Meta also use what their cookies collect for their own advertising systems, which is why none of it runs unless you say yes. Our privacy policy explains who receives what, where it is held and the rights you have over it.
Changing your mind
Your answer is remembered in your browser rather than in a cookie. Clearing your browsing data for this site removes it, along with everything else stored under this site’s address, and you will be asked again on your next visit. The one Google Ads cookie kept under Google’s own addresses goes when you clear your data for Google instead. You can also block cookies for this site in your browser settings.
Google publishes an opt out add on for Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Meta lets you control how your activity is used for adverts in the settings of your Facebook or Instagram account, under ad preferences.
Our lawful basis for analytics and advertising is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by the means above.
Changes to this policy
If we add anything that stores something on your device, it will be listed here and asked about before it is switched on, and the date at the top will change.
