Who we are
AGC Carpentry and Building Services is a carpentry and building business based in Ashford, Kent. We are the data controller for the personal information described on this page, which means we decide why it is collected and what happens to it.

What this policy covers
This policy applies to this website and to enquiries sent through it. It does not cover other websites we link to, such as our Google Business Profile, Instagram or WhatsApp, which have their own policies.
What we collect when you send an enquiry
Our contact form asks for your first name, last name, email address, phone number, the town or area you are in, the kind of work you need and a short description of the job.
Every one of those is required, because we cannot price a job or arrange to come and look at it without being able to reach you and knowing roughly where you are. We do not ask for anything beyond that, and no page on this site collects payment details.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Nothing is stored on your device until you agree to it. The first time you visit, a small notice at the bottom of the screen asks whether we may use Google Analytics, Google Ads and the Meta pixel. Until you answer, and if you answer no, no cookie is set for any of them and no profile of you is built.
If you say yes, three things run.
Google Analytics shows us which pages people find useful, which articles get read and roughly where in the country our visitors are. It tells us how the website is doing rather than who you are.
Google Ads lets us measure whether an advert we have paid for led to somebody getting in touch, and it can be used to show our adverts again to people who have already visited this site. This is advertising, and it is the reason the question above asks about more than analytics.
The Meta pixel does the same job for our adverts on Facebook and Instagram. It tells Meta which pages you looked at on this site and whether you sent us an enquiry, so we can see which adverts actually lead to work and can show our adverts again to people who have visited. It sets its own cookies, usually named _fbp and _fbc. If you do not agree it is not loaded at all, so nothing is requested from Meta and nothing is stored.
When you send an enquiry, the only detail of it we pass to Meta is the kind of work it was about, for example a kitchen or an extension. Your name, email address, phone number and message are never sent to Meta, Google or any other advertising company. We have deliberately switched off the pixel setting that would otherwise read those fields as you type them.
To be complete about it: like any request your browser makes to any website, the pixel also tells Meta the address of the page you are on, the page you came from, your browser type and your IP address. That is how the internet works rather than anything extra we have chosen to collect, but it is information about you and we would rather say so than let “nothing else” do work it cannot do.
None of these is ever combined with the details you type into the contact form, and we do not sell or share your information with anyone for their own advertising.
Saying no costs you nothing. Every page works exactly the same either way.
Changing your mind. Your answer is remembered in your browser rather than in a cookie. Clearing your browsing data for this site removes it and you will be asked again next time. You can also block cookies for this site in your browser settings, and Google publishes an opt out add on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Meta lets you control how your activity is used for adverts in the settings of your Facebook or Instagram account, under ad preferences.
Our lawful basis for both analytics and advertising is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by the means above. Refusing, or later withdrawing, stops both.

What is collected automatically
As with any website, our hosting provider records ordinary technical information when a page is requested, such as an IP address, browser type and the page asked for. That is used to serve the site and keep it secure rather than to identify you.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To reply to your enquiry, price the work and arrange a visit. Our lawful basis is that we are taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- To keep a record of enquiries so a conversation can be picked up later. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running the business and being able to answer questions about a job.
- To meet legal duties around tax and accounting where an enquiry becomes paid work. Our lawful basis is legal obligation.
We do not use your details for marketing. We send no newsletters, and we never sell, rent or trade your information.
Who else sees it
- Web3Forms, which receives the form submission and emails it to us. A copy is kept in our account with them.
- Vercel, which hosts this website.
- Seonat, who built and look after this website and receive a copy of enquiry notifications, so that a form which stops working is noticed rather than losing your message silently.
- Google, but only if you agreed. Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads then receive information about the pages you viewed and, for advertising, whether you arrived from one of our adverts. Google is in the United States, and transfers are covered by their standard contractual clauses and the UK extension to the Data Privacy Framework.
- Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, but only if you agreed. Meta then receives information about the pages you viewed on this site and whether you sent an enquiry, so that our adverts can be measured and shown again. Meta is in the United States, and transfers are covered by their standard contractual clauses and the UK extension to the Data Privacy Framework. For this Meta acts as a joint controller with us rather than only on our instructions, which means you can exercise your rights against either of us.
- Our accountant, and HMRC, where an enquiry becomes paid work and the law requires the record.
Web3Forms, Vercel, Seonat and our accountant act on our instructions and none of them is permitted to use your information for their own purposes. Google and Meta are different: they also use what they collect for their own advertising systems, which is why nothing reaches either of them unless you have agreed, and why saying no stops it completely.
Where it is held
Our hosting and form providers run servers both inside and outside the UK, including in the United States. Where information leaves the UK it is protected by the safeguards those providers have in place, such as the UK approved standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- An enquiry that does not turn into work is kept for up to two years, so we can recognise you if you come back to us.
- Records about work we actually carried out are kept for six years after the job finishes, which is the period they may be needed for tax and for any claim about the work.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to us using it, and ask for it in a portable form.
To do any of those, email info@agccarpentryandbuilding.co.uk. We will reply within one month and there is no charge.
If you want to complain
Please tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, which is the UK regulator for this.

Changes to this policy
If we start collecting anything else we will update this page and change the date at the top. Anything that needs your permission will be asked for before it is switched on, in the same way analytics is now.
